Audi has already produced five million systems quattro

Audi announced today the production of five million units of its all-wheel drive quattro technology launched in 1980. The system marks this milestone was mounted on A6 allroad 3.0 TDI manufactured in Neckarsulm.

"This number demonstrates the pioneering role in Audi AWD systems. No other builder  in the world can claim such high sales volume in models with AWD or show a range with more than 140 versions, "says  Audi in a statement.

Audi debuted this technology in 1980 with the legendary Audi quattro car.
