BTCC: Third place for Rob Austin Audi in race 1 at Brands Hatch
By Tarek Ramchani
The 2013 British Touring Car Championship season has started. Rob Austin Racing did very well with their pair of Audi A4 cars in race 1.
An amazing start from Rob Austin #13 Audi A4 NGTC gave him the race lead after starting from seventh. The Audi driver held the race lead for almost half of the race with his soft tires, whilst resisting Jason Palto's MG and Andrew Jordan's Honda assaults. Later Jason Palto passed the Audi and some laps later Andrew Jordan did the same. In the final corner of the final lap contact between Jason Plato and Andrew Jordan was almost fatal for both drivers, however they were able to exit the gravel trap very quickly, before Rob Austin could catch them. A fine third in the end for Rob Austin and best finisher with an independent built NGTC car. Team mate Will Bratt finished in twelfth place. The young driver of the #14 Audi A4 started fifteenth and fought hard on track for positions.
Race 2 is next and the starting grid will be based on the finishing order of race 1. Rob Austin will start from third and Will Bratt from twelfth. Fingers crossed for both drivers and WIX Racing.
