Audi S4 quattros ready for Cape Town challenge‏

Press Release from Audi South Africa

THE quartet of Audi S4 quattros will be seen in action at Killarney when the Brigestone Production Car field contests the penultimate round of the WesBank Super Series on Saturday, 22 September. The four Audi S4 quattros will be found in the thick of the action on race day.

The defending champion in the production car series is Michael Stephen (A1 – Engen Xtreme / Tsogo Sun). Stephen is also the current championship leader. Stephen has produced consistently good results all season in his quest to retain his championship title, using a combination of race strategy, driving skill and the power and roadholding of his Audi S4 quattro.

Going into the Killarney round Stephen has a 24 point lead in the series and he is aiming to hang on to that advantage.

Stephen's teammate Tschops Sipuka (A2 – Engen Xtreme / Tsogo Sun) and Melvill Priest (A7 – Mueller Sport Medicine) are separated by jus two points. This is likely to see the two involved in a fight of their own for supremacy on the day.

Whichever of the two produces the best result at Killarney is likely to claim a top-five finish to the 2012 championship.

For Gennaro Bonafede (A32 – Ferodo Racing) the Western Cape race meeting will be only his second outing in the Audi S4 quattro after debuting at Zwartkops in August. For Bonafede the remainder of the 2012 season is all about finding his footing in the new car and adapting to the advantages offered by the quattro system.

There are just two rounds for Bonafede to cram as much testing and knowledge as possible in order to start the 2013 season on the best footing he possibly can.

Stephen has put in consistently good performances this season to achieve his championship lead. Sipuka has showed a steady improvement to where he claimed third overall after the Zwartkops event – the previous round of the championship. Priest is focused on building on his performances during the practise sessions so he can turn good pace into good results – and also valuable championship points. Bonafede aims to achieve as much pace as possible while staying out of trouble so he can gain valuable seat time in his new race car.

Each of the Audi S4 quattro racers has their own set of goals they wish to achieve on race day and will be relying on the technology and pace of their race car to achieve these results.

Motorsport fans can look forward to an action-packed day of racing when the Audi S4 quattro competitors head onto the track at Killarney.
